Celebrate Bioengineering: The next chapter of Everitt Lab

Friday, September 21, 2018 | 1:15 pm

Following a two-year, multi-million-dollar renovation, Everitt Lab reopened in June 2018 as the new home of the Bioengineering Department, which has grown significantly over the last decade. The state-of-the-art research and instructional labs located here will enhance Bioengineering faculty and students' ability to address grand challenges in health and medicine.

Everitt Lab is also home to the Jump Simulation Center, where medical students enrolled in the new engineering-driven Carle Illinois College of Medicine use the latest medical equipment and simulation technology to train in an array of areas, including, surgery, intensive care, and clinical skills. Bioengineering students also use the Sim Center for design, capstone, professional master’s, and research projects.

Bioengineering is excited to carry on the legacy of the building's namesake, William L. Everitt, a noted educator, author, electronics communication researcher, and Illinois engineering dean, who played a key role in transforming the Illinois engineering campus after World War II into the research and education powerhouse it is today. Join us for this celebration and lab tours and learn more about how Illinois Bioengineering is reshaping medicine in the 21st century.
